Derbyshire v North Essex 17th December 2023 played at MIBC
Comments from Captain Matt.
Narrow win 8-6 points against some very good bowlers. They were an unknown entity and proved to be a good side.
Hopefully they can take some points from both Norfolk and Northants ‘A’.

I heard that Hunts conceded their match to Norfolk today giving them 14 points which is really bad news but turns out only rules state 8 points and 1 shot/rink Hopefully they’ll pull out altogether which should mean we’ll be given 2 more points (we beat them 12-2 in the first game).
Although we lost on 3 rinks I’m really pleased with the way we didn’t let them get away to a 12-2 win… each losing rink fought hard to keep us in the hunt for the 6 aggregate points - well done.
With three rinks finished score was drawn at 83 shots.
Rink 1 who had several dead ends had two ends to play won them both by 2 shots for a great shots win 87 to 83.
Special mention to Alfie Condron, Nigel Blyth and Nigel Eagle for carrying enough shots and winning the spoons.
Next and penultimate game is against Northants B in Peterborough on 7h January.
Availability statuses please contact Matt Hewitt
C Waling, J Gowler, L Miller 18 - 22
A Condron, N Blyth, N Eagle 35 - 15 (Spoons)

Derbyshire v Northants "A" 12th November 2023 played at MIBC

Very close game after a nervy start which could have gone either way.
However having won on 3 of the 4 rinks we lost by 4 shots, 84 to 89 and 6 to 8 points.
Umpire John Fox called a 2 minutes silence to recognise Remembran

Durham Centenary Trophy 2023

March Town BC  2nd round game Sunday 18th June against Wootton Park BC at Gaywood Park, Cemetery Drive, Gaywood Road, Kings Lynn PE30 4EG was rained off because of a storm.

The game is now being played Thursday 29th June at 6.30pm, good luck.

Wootton Park 88 ~ March Town 78

Newton Trophy v Suffolk 1st July 2023 at March Town BC.

This was a much win game where we had to win on all 6 rinks to win the southern area league by 1 point over Suffolk, a 22 - 0 points win required.

The game hinged on rink 5 going into the last end up by 5 shots but a couple down in the head with one bowl to play by Suffolk skip.

The back woods were well covered by Jack Wells leaving Suffolk the only option but to kill the end.

The Suffolk skip J Jenkins fired, the jack jumped in the air and ran away into the back ditch, a no scoring end.

We lead from the start on shots and were never down, result North Cambs 22 points, 196 shots, Suffolk 0 points 118 shots.

Congratulations to Captain Matt Hewitt, the team, all the reserves and supporters to win the league by 76 points to Suffolk's 75 points.

Thanks to March Town BC for hosting our 3 home games, Glenda and her team of ladies who provided the great buffets after the game and the many bar men and ladies who kept us refreshed.
